Overview
An ashram is a space for intense study especially for of spiritual practices involving mind body disciplines. It is also a space for effortless living. By their very nature, ashrams are meant to be secluded, austere and silent and dotted with sacred spaces & powerful Energy Centres. At Shaktiyogashrama the Samadhi, the temple and the gurus kutiya create a sacred energy sphere.
Swami Shri Harish Madhukar’s chief message can be understood as
- Always be in a state of good cheer – that is the highest sadhana.
- Whatever is, is for the best.
- Whatever is, is due to Her Will. Enjoy it, accept it.
- We ‘do’ nothing. Bhagvati ‘does’.
- Renounce preferences and predjudices.
- Practice awareness. Be aware of all things at all times.
- You are the awareness of that Awareness.
It is a philosophy of living and can be best described as Ananda Sadhana, in which meditational practices are a tool to fortify ones self in the spiritual journey.
The spiritual practes at the ashram include omkara sadhan, the recitation of the Lalita sahastranama andother esoteric Sri vvidya practices.
Babaji’s religion was one of inclusiveness, of acceptance and inner freedom.
Programs
Omkara Sadhana
The human being is capable of generating limitless amounts of positive energy within himself through the practice of spiritual sadhana. According to swami Shri Harish Madhukar,’ omkarasadhana’ is one such practice that can be practiced by people from all walks of life irrespective of their age, gender, caste & creed. Omkara is pure sonic energy that cleanses; re arranges and enhances human potential. The Shaktiyogashrama programme combines this with other activities like treks, spiritual talks etc to make it a complete programme for Ananda Sadhana – the discipline of Happiness.
Understanding Sri Vidya
Sri Vidya is an ancient form of Shakti worship to evoke and experience the Primordial Energy within oneself through esoteric practices. This is Shaktiyoga from which the ashram derives its identity.
The presiding deity, Tripura Sundari or Lalita is worshipped here and seen as the Divine Mother who combines in Herself the power of Shiva & Shakti.
It is a syncretic system that sees everything as divine Play and is all inclusive defining Babaji’s basic message that ‘ All is Her play and an expression of Her Will – enjoy it & accept it.’

His real teachings consisted of simple statements that he reiterated a million times a day as you sat, “ate chatted joked, went through daily chores like chopping vegetables travelled in crowded trains, tidied his room, narrated instances from your life and listened to those from his. Each one of these statements was a mantra, a formula for living free…
This is also one of the powerful systems of Yoga and it has its own philosophy. This philosophy says that he whole universe is formed out of Sabdabrahman. This, philosophy says that the entire process in this world have tarted by explosion (Sphota Siddhanta). The grammarians establish that the whole creation is a result of Sabda-Brahman and its Audio-visible form is “Om” Onkãra The philosophy says that the origin of Sabdahrahman is from Onkãra. The entire world of the vowels and consonants had originated from Onkãra and from these various the vowels and consonants Mantras have been formed. As per this theory, every syllable is having specific sound waves, specific size, specific vibration, form and the specific colour. The description of every letter and its form and its colours etc. are available in our ancient scriptures…
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The meaning of the word PRANAVA is OMKÃRA. The meditation based on Omkãra is supposed to be the oldest system of meditation. Patanjali Rsi in his Yoga Siitras, part one, Siitra No. 27, says that the representative word for the Išwara is Omkãra which is known as Pranava. When we want to worship God, it becomes very difficult as to how to worship. Different religions and different philosophies give different names to the concept of God. For coming, out of this confusion the, ancient Rsis gave Omkara as the name, the representative, symbol for Iswara as Omkãra. This type of meditation is having the oldest tradition amongst all the types of meditations. I would now explain in brief the concept of Qmkãra…
